Body Parts and Cat Fights

It is so incredible how much a young child learns in such a small amount of time. I sure wish I had that kind of learning capacity. We have lived in Silver City for over a year and I STILL don't know everyone in the Ward at Church, let alone my Apartment building. It is just sad. But I'm working at it...a little at a time.

It has been so much fun to stay at home and watch Dallin learn and grow each day. He is such a delight. I'm very blessed to have him in my life. The last few days he has been discovering new body parts. Of course he found "THE" body part in the bath a LONG time ago, but Monday he discovered his nose. He was trying to wipe some cracker off his face and accidently stuck his finger in his nose. He is now facinated with it and does it frequently. ** I swear he isn't pulling anything out of it though...yet.

And then last night at the dinner table, Cody and I look over and notice Dallin is just poking himself in the eye, over and over and OVER again. It was soooo hard not to laugh. We couldn't restrain. He would carefully feel his eyelashes and then....POKE. He never cries, he just got to the point where he would have to rub his eye and let it tear a bit and then he would go right back to examining it again. He is SUCH a silly boy.

He also loves to chase the cat around. I was really concerned how she would handle having a baby around. She isn't the friendliest cat. But truly, she has been SOOO patient with him. When he first took interest in her, he would wiggle over to her and just start beating the top of her head. He thought he was petting her gently. Allie would just lay there and take it until he hit her in the eye or would pull a whisker and then she would just give him a lil bite to tell him to back off. Once again, he would never cry(he is one tough cookie), but he would find something else to do. We worked on showing him the proper way to pet his kitty, but every once in a while I will catch him trying to rip her ears from her head. I'm honestly surprised she hasn't made him bleed.

Tonight, however, was a different story. Once again, we were all gathered in the livingroom playing when Dallin starts crawling around and chasing Dallin. That's pretty normal so I didn't think much of it until I noticed, he wasn't just chasing her...he was BITING her!!! I guess he had been bit enough that he figured it was her turn. It was too funny. He would get up and have cat hair all over his lips and even up his nose. Of course it would tickle and he would just keep rubbing his face to get the hair off and when he was done he would get right back to chasing/biting her. It is never boring around here :)

Walkin Boy

So it is official, Dallin is now a walkin' boy. Yesterday evening, we were all playing in the livingroom. I look over and see Dallin standing in the middle of the room, all by himself. He has been pulling himself up on things for months now and last month even ventured out and took a few first steps, but i had yet to see him stand up all by himself. I was so proud. I just told Cody that I needed to go record that in his babybook when low and behold, he starts walking. He walked everywhere last night. He was doing so good, you would have never guessed it was his first day. Cody and I managed to catch a few recordings and we have been proudly bragging all day. :)
On a side note, last week our computer died. It had started acting funny and running a tad slower than normal, and then Dallin decided he wanted to play with it and started banging around on the keyboard. Long story short- either we caught a virus, we got toddler destruction, or perhaps even a combo. Anyway you look at it we are out a computer until we get a chance to make it up to Quemado so Cody's mom can take a look at it and hopefully retrieve photos/music/ programs...ect. So until that happens, my posts will be pictureless. :( Sad I know. But I'm determined to still keep posting. ( I'm using my husband's school laptop. )

Early Surprise!!

Two weeks ago the ladies from my ward threw Dallin and I a baby shower. I know I know, You're probably thinking " A baby shower?? But he is already 6 months old!!" They had origionally planned a shower for before he was born but since he came earlier than expected it got postponed and then life happened and there you have it, he ended up having more of a 6 month b-day party instead of a shower. It was tons of fun! We really have made some wonderful friends here in Silver City and they contributed a lot of gift cards and we were able to buy Dallin a 4-in-1 crib...FINALLY. We have been looking around for a good deal ever since we found out we were expecting. We had been eyeing the cribs that convert into toddler beds, day beds, and then finally a headboard for a full size bed. We found some nice deals online and finally settled on one made by Graco that was only $135.00!! We found an inexpensive mattrice and semi inexpensive bedding to go along and made the purchase. I was expecting it to come next week sometime but everything showed up on MONDAY!!! I was sooooo excited I couldn't wait to put it up! Cody had to meet with his guidance counselor to sign up for summer classes and I just couldn't wait for him. I had it almost completely set up by the time he came home. He was kind enough to play with the babe while I put the final touches on the crib and then he was off to class. I washed the bedding and got it all together!! It looks AMAZING if I do say so my self!! I layed Dallin in it to go cook dinner and he took his first successful nap in it!! It was wonderful!! He LOVES LOVES LOVES it already!!

These past few days I have been attempting to stear away from nursing Dallin to sleep and then having Cody pace back and forth until he can carefully lay Dallin in his bassinet for the night. I want to get to the point where I nurse him and then just lay him in bed alseep or awake and he will go to bed. So I have been doing so and he will cry and cry and cry. It breaks my heart but I know that in time he will learn that its time for bed and I'm not going to come get him so he can sleep with us. Ever since we got the crib I have laid him in there and no longer than 10 minutes will he wine and then crash!! And on top of that he hasn't been waking up until 6:45 or 7!! It has simply been wonderful! I really hope that he keeps this up! I sure am in heaven!!

On a side note, the other day I was feeding Dallin and he quit eating and began to play. I asked him " Are you done eating??" and he looked at me and said " YA". Both Cody and I stopped what we were doing, jaws dropped and and stared and Dallin. We couldn't believe what just happened. I know it was probably just a coincidence but still...too cool! Definately baby book material ;o)

I have been desperately trying to organize and simplify my house. Room by room I am getting rid of things I don't use/need and rearranging furniture. Its long but I enjoy change. My poor husband probably gets tired of wondering where I put all his stuff. He is a trooper though!!

Well I have a full day tomorrow so I better hit the sheets!! Night all!!

My sweet lil 6 monther had his well check today. He recieved an oral vaccination, 3 shots, and a heel pricked and he took it like a champ. He really is one tough cookie-must get that from his daddy! He still remains below the 3rd percentile in weight, 12 pounds 12 ounces. And right at the 3rd percentile for height, 26 inches long. He is steadily growing, so there is no need for concerns. YAY!! Unfortunetly he has most likely caught my cold, but as for now its mild so we are starting him on some meds and hopefully we can kill it before it gets any worse. His well check couldn't have come at a better time!!

We have been introducing a lot of new foods to Dallin lately and I'm surprised at how well he is doing. I really shouldn't be, afterall he is his father's son and I still haven't found a food he doesn't eat. ha. The other night, Cody and I were enjoying a nice dill pickle before bed and Dallin just wouldn't stop reaching for it so I gave him mine to suck on for a while and he just LOVED it!! Its so much fun watching Dallin do and try new things! He sure is growing up fast but I'm just glad I'm there to witness and enjoy it with him!!

chewin' the fat

I am seriously probably the worse blogger EVER!!! I'm just having a hard time finding time in my day to sit down and write. Hopefully it will slowly get easier so bare with me.
I have started going on nightly strolls with my good friend and neighbor Serena! It has been so much fun! I get some me time/girl time/ and exercise all in one!! It has also been really good for Cody and Dallin. They need some good ol fashioned one on one time together. Now, hopefully I won't get so upset when Cody comes home and just wants to relax and I want to talk to his ear off....I have my walking buddy!!!
Dallin turned 6 months old this past Friday! Its so scary how fast he is growing up. I'm anxious to see where he is at now on the charts, his checkup is this Thursday so I'll be sure to update you all on where he is at. I swear he is going to be walking before I know it!! And I already know he is going to keep me on my toes. He already thinks that he is intitled to everything I have. But truth be told I don't mind sharing with him one bit. He is my lil buddy. I'm so lucky my husband is such a hardworker and is able to support us and let me stay home with our lil guy!! The Lord truly has blessed us!!
Unfortunately, I fear a cold may be catching up to me, AGAIN. So I think I'm going to retire to bed and hopefully sleep it away. I'll try and write more tomorrow and add some photos-but no promises. ;o)

Dallin's Big Arrival

It was exactly a year today( March 17-St. Patricks Day) that I went to my very first doctors appointment that confirmed I was pregnant with my sweet baby boy!! I was told I would be having him around November 1. However, things rarely go the way you plan them, and this was no exception. Dallin arrived 4 weeks early due to a rise in my blood pressure. It was October 9, 2009, I woke up early and got ready to go to my weekly checkup. When I got there my doctor told me that my blood pressure was a little higher than normal and because of my swollen body and increasing headaches he wanted to send me to the hospital and be monitored to make sure I didn't have pre-eclampsia.

I remember thinking there was NO WAY I could have pre-eclampsia, I would most likely just waste my morning away at the hospital and then they would send me home and I would vent and complain about it to my husband when he came home for lunch.

When I got to the hospital, they hooked me up and apparently my blood pressure had shot up dramatically just from the drive over. They told me to prepare myself because I would most likely be having the baby either today or tomorrow. I started to panic...how was I going to get ahold of my husband?? At the time we were sharing a phone and of course I had it so there was no way for me to contact him. I knew he was in Calculus and that we had his friend Jason from the class programmed into our phone. I quickly texted him and asked him to please let my hubby know I was in the hospital and would possibly be having our baby. He relayed the message and Cody jumped on his motorcycle and rushed to be by my side. I was soooo grateful when he arrived and no longer was I worried. The doctor came back with my blood work and confirmed that I did have pre-eclampsia and of course the only way to cure it was to have the baby. TODAY. They induced me...but after four hours realized that the meds they had put me on to lower my blood pressure were beginning to affect my heart. They decided the safest thing to do for me and the baby was to have a c-section. So at 6:10 pm, my beautiful baby boy was born!! He was the most precious thing I had EVER laid eyes on.
