It was exactly a year today( March 17-St. Patricks Day) that I went to my very first doctors appointment that confirmed I was pregnant with my sweet baby boy!! I was told I would be having him around November 1. However, things rarely go the way you plan them, and this was no exception. Dallin arrived 4 weeks early due to a rise in my blood pressure. It was October 9, 2009, I woke up early and got ready to go to my weekly checkup. When I got there my doctor told me that my blood pressure was a little higher than normal and because of my swollen body and increasing headaches he wanted to send me to the hospital and be monitored to make sure I didn't have pre-eclampsia.
I remember thinking there was NO WAY I could have pre-eclampsia, I would most likely just waste my morning away at the hospital and then they would send me home and I would vent and complain about it to my husband when he came home for lunch.
When I got to the hospital, they hooked me up and apparently my blood pressure had shot up dramatically just from the drive over. They told me to prepare myself because I would most likely be having the baby either today or tomorrow. I started to panic...how was I going to get ahold of my husband?? At the time we were sharing a phone and of course I had it so there was no way for me to contact him. I knew he was in Calculus and that we had his friend Jason from the class programmed into our phone. I quickly texted him and asked him to please let my hubby know I was in the hospital and would possibly be having our baby. He relayed the message and Cody jumped on his motorcycle and rushed to be by my side. I was soooo grateful when he arrived and no longer was I worried. The doctor came back with my blood work and confirmed that I did have pre-eclampsia and of course the only way to cure it was to have the baby. TODAY. They induced me...but after four hours realized that the meds they had put me on to lower my blood pressure were beginning to affect my heart. They decided the safest thing to do for me and the baby was to have a c-section. So at 6:10 pm, my beautiful baby boy was born!! He was the most precious thing I had EVER laid eyes on.
